About Harmony Horses Equine Assisted Learning

What we do

In the interaction with our well-trained very responsive assisted learning horses there are a lot of activities we can explore together over time.

Every one of them will be first and foremost about relationship and connection in a joyful manner. As we are opening up to equine assisted learning, it is playful and a lot of fun! That is a great foundation to expand our confidence and settle with a sense of agency and leadership as an effortless outcome.

Self-development unfolds as we go while moving in beautiful natural surroundings. New ways to express simply happen.

In all of this, we become aware that a sense of humour and laughter is the best medicine there is.

At this stage, these experiences will happen on the ground always with hands-on involvement of the equine assisted learning practitioner.  Please refer to our short clips of previous sessions under the video section

What's happens in an equine assisted learning session?

A few activities in the first session might be:

  • Learning to safely move around the horse

  • Grooming and brushing the horse – our horses love to be pampered. Focussing on the shiny coat of the horse is very stilling, almost like giving an equine massage

  • Walking with a horse on a lead with close support of the practitioner, learning how to stop & walk on.

Other activities in later sessions can include:

  •  Asking the horse to back up and turn

  •  Moving over cavalettie (posts) in walk and trot

  •  Jumping the horse over small obstacles

  •   Lunging/moving the horse in a circle

  •   Taking the horse for a walk around the 25ac farm

  •   Extensive Liberty (free) work in a secured area

All these activities are building relationship and confidence

in a light hearted way!

At the end, we finish the session with a celebratory carrot for our new equine friend.
